Citizen Science: Findhorn Bay Seagrass Survey

Seagrass is incredible stuff!

It not only produces oxygen that we breathe, but protects our coastlines, absorbs carbon and provides a home to many coastal species.

But despite being so amazing, seagrass is under threat, and protecting it is hard because so little is currently known about its true distribution.

This May BSACSeawilding, and Project Seagrass have come together to initiate the national Great Seagrass Survey, and at the Findhorn Watershed Initiative we’re gathering a local group of citizen scientists to take part with a survey of Findhorn Bay.

We’ll meet on Saturday 27th May at 11.00 in Findhorn village, and should be finished by 15.00 with tea and cake at the Findhorn Village Centre. Everyone is very welcome, though you’ll need to be comfortable to walk on the pebbles and soft/wet/muddy ground of the intertidal area.

Please register for a free place to let us know you’re planning to join, and to receive information about where to meet and what to bring.
