Funders & Sponsors

The work of the Findhorn Watershed Initiative is currently resourced thanks to the generous support of the following funders and sponsors:

The Scottish Government’s Just Transition Fund

The Just Transition Fund (JTF) is the Scottish Government’s £500 million ten-year commitment that will support projects in the North East and Moray which contribute towards the region’s transition to net zero, in a way which aligned with the Scottish Government’s Just Transition Outcomes.

The Findhorn, Nairn and Lossie Rivers Trust was awarded a significant grant as one of the first round of projects to be supported by the fund, to enable the launch and development of the pilot phase of the Findhorn Watershed Initiative, between December 2022-March 2025.

LNER’s Customer & Community Investment Fund

Between April 2023-March 2024 LNER is supporting a range of ecological baseline monitoring work in the upper catchment area, as well as a programme of community engagement with residents and other key stakeholders of the watershed.

The community engagement programme includes encouraging participation in citizen science and monitoring, as well as undertaking cultural and historical research to inform our understanding of how the watershed ecosystems, and local peoples’ relationships with them, have changed over time, and might be restored and re-enlivened in the future.

Chivas Brothers & The River Within

From March 2024 the Scotch whisky company Chivas Brothers will be supporting the work of the Findhorn Watershed Initiative through its new pioneering multi-year partnership with the Findhorn, Nairn and Lossie Rivers Trust – ‘The River Within’.

Chivas Brothers’ support will ensure riparian woodland and river restoration schemes that are currently in development along the River Findhorn and its tributaries are resourced, helping them to be turned into reality and delivered on the ground.

You can support us too

As a charitable trust the Findhorn, Nairn and Lossie Rivers Trust is reliant on funding to resource its small, dedicated team and our work towards the restoration and protection of our river catchments and the wildlife which inhabits them.

If you feel drawn to make a contribution towards the continuation of our work, then any support is gratefully received and you can find our donations page linked below.
